Using your scooter around Las Vegas

If you have never visited "Sin City" before, you might feel both excited and anxious about doing so. Visiting somewhere new is always fun, and it means you have the chance to create unique travel memories. But, you may be feeling anxious because of the mobility aspect of your travels around the city.

To the uninitiated, it might seem like Las Vegas is a no-go zone for wheelchair users. The thing is, the opposite is true. This famous city in Nevada is well laid out for people using mobility scooters.

Renting a mobility scooter

If you have a standard wheelchair, you may wish to look into rental scooters in Vegas. There is plenty to explore in the city, and it can be tiresome if you had to do it all in a manual wheelchair.

The good news is that it's easy and affordable to rent one while you're visiting Las Vegas.

Flying into Las Vegas

If you are flying to Las Vegas, you will no doubt be heading into McCarran International Airport. The great news here is that the airport is quite accessible for visitors with mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Inside the airport, the two terminal buildings and concourses have ADA-compliant restrooms.

From the airport, it's possible to use public transportation or taxi services to get into the city. If you plan on using a taxi, there are wheelchair accessible ones available on demand.

Mobility scooters and wheelchairs on the Las Vegas sidewalks

It doesn't matter if every store or venue you want to see is accessible to you. The big question in your mind will be how "rollable" the sidewalks are in Vegas!

Thankfully, all the sidewalks along the Strip and other tourist-friendly areas are wide. There are curb cuts at all intersections, along with visual and audio alerts too.

There are some parts of the Strip where ground-level crosswalks aren't possible. In those cases, there are instead elevated walkways and have elevators available to access them.

Visiting the many attractions (and casinos)

Let's face it: the main reason for visiting Las Vegas is for the attractions! There is no denying that the city has an abundance of activities and places of interest.

Again, Las Vegas doesn't let you down when it comes to accessibility. From the casinos through to the Ferris Wheel, you will find it refreshingly easy to use wheelchairs or rental scooters in Vegas.

Staying in Las Vegas

So far, we know that getting around the city should be stress-free and easy. But, does the same thing apply to accommodation in Las Vegas?

Because of the Americans with Disabilities Act, almost all hotels in the area are accessible. You will find they have rooms with roll-in showers to make your stay comfortable.

One of the great things about Las Vegas isn't about where to go or what you see. It's the people that work there; they are extremely friendly and helpful!

Even at the casinos, if you ever need help, the dealers or floor attendants are more than happy to help.
